I have just stubbed my toe and it is excruciantingly painful. The toe (the middle on my left foot) is now severely bent to the left and pressed up against the toe to the left. I have bandaged it but it is just pushing it further in the wrong direction. Should i put cotton wool or something between the two toes to try and separate the gap and keep it straight or should I leave it bandaged even though it is keeping it in the wron place. Please help.

The best thing to do is tape it to the next toe. You may have broken it ... in which case you will need to go to A&E. However, all they will do is strap it to the next toe .....
If its that bent out of shape that much you may need to go to the hospital to get it checked out, wouldnt want it to heal like that.
My ex father in law did that and with the same results as you've described.  He went to A&E to be told there was nothing they could do for a broken toe and they bandaged it to the next one until it was healed.  I do recommend you go to hospital though. :)
Sorry I completely repeated what Le Chat just said - sorry chum, I hadn't read the answers given first, which was dumb - let's blame it on the Friday GnT :)
Ouch - I know just how much that hurts jrb, as I did the same thing on our bed castor! It still sometimes gives me jip even after two years!

Well I rang NHS direct who said to go straight to A&E - where after an X-ray, I was told it was broken on a diagonal joint and had to have it re-set into place and will now have to have it bandaged for 6 weeks ! I was also told I will be in pain for at least a week ! Anyway, thanks for all your help.

If it is bent there is obviously something wrong with it!! Go to hospital and get it sorted!
