On Thursday I had the Rhizotomy procedure. The pain was pretty bad when the heat was applied but bearable & he said I tolerated it well. I have arthritis in the L5 S1 area of the spine.
The doctor told me it could be several weeks before I felt any benefit but I hope I'm in the 50% of people it works for. Two days on I am in more pain in my buttock area (referred pain as he calls it) but hoping it eases soon.
I have had local anaesetics in the past but this time (4 injections, 2 each side of the spine) it has really knocked me for six. Yesterday I slept more than I was awake & today I have slept 3 hours this afternoon. Completely unheard of for me to have to go & have a nap in the day!
Could the 'local' have this affect on the body? I was sweating considerably yesterday & this morning but that now seems to have passed.

It's called stress. Sleeping is a natural way to recover.

I guess you are right Zacs-Master. Thanks. I have listened to my body in the last two days & certainly rested as I just had to but surprised how long I have slept for
Mmm. Fascinating.
I would say that your sleepiness and particularly your sweating is part and parcel of your body's response to being assaulted.
It should settle.

Thanks Sqad.
Thanks for the update, I second (third?) what the other have said. Sleep is the body's natural reaction to cope with stress - go with it. :)
Gad it is over and done with.
