Hoping For A Quiet Night, Tonight.
6 Answers
Went to bed at 9 p.m. yesterday to watch Cormoran Strike.
Just as the end credits were rolling I heard a noise and wondered who the heck was using an electric drill at that time of night?
Whoops - I suddenly realised what was making the noise.
I never knew that hornets were nocturnal. One had flown in the wide open bedroom window and was hovering just above my head. I was soon on my feet and went to get the can of insect killer and fly swat. There ensued a game of spray and badminton. Every time it came straight at me I sprayed it again and gave it a great whack trying to get it out of the window. In the end I gave up and took the duvet into the lounge and spent the night on the sofa. This morning I did a thorough search of the bedroom and found the little sod dead on the floor.
The window will be shut tonight ...

I was once woken by some sort of cricket type creature caught in my hair and kicking. I did a vertical take off, and landed in a sort of martial arts pose. My heart was racing so much I couldn't get back to sleep for ages

I did have to laugh at hopkirk with the cricket sort of creature and the martial arts position, I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time but seriously choux, I do hope that was the end of it for the hornet and that you find the source of it's nest, they are dangerous enough, I've seen photos of the damage they can do from a sting, looks more like bites, Good morning and I hope your sleep wasn't troubled last night. Sounds like you put up a good fight too ha ;)
Thank you for the replies and it was a quieter night, thankfully.
ael, you are far too impressionable, I am surprised you are allowed on here ;)
hopkirk, your answer made me smile and some.
Ducksie, living in the country we have a fair share of wildlife and have endured many a bees nest, wasps nest and good few hornets to boot.
