Just did a huge update, and lost it !
Briefly now, cos fed up of typing....
Carers in twice daily, hospital mattress in on our bed.
He is very weak, and transferring chair to bed etc is a bit fraught, He can no long use the monkey bar to life himself either.
Going for respite Monday (3 days) so I can get carpet out of bedroom, and vinyl laid, and take delivery of the rest of the hospital bed, and a small single for me.
It upset me a bit when I had to start feeding him, but needs must and all that.
Thanks for asking, sorry to go on a bit.

I feel really bad as I don't know the background to this, so I don't know what Mr F is suffering with etc, but it sounds as though you're having a hard time yourself so I am sending you all my love and best wishes xx
I hope you're coping OK, Ferlew, and also making sure you look after yourself.
Ferlew, ((hugs))

During his respite care, you look after yourself xxx
Ferlew sorry to hear this, are they providing a sling, the only reason I ask is my friend had to get one for her husband when he was unable to move and it was a godsend.
Big hugs and thoughts at this difficult time xx
Difficult times and you're doing a brilliant job, even though you're having things delivered and sorted try to grab a bit of time for you during those few days respite.x
ferlew ..you are doing a wonderful job..it is both physically and emotionally draining..take all the help you are offered..thinking of you both at this difficult time xx
Good of you to take the time to post, please use any assistance offered to you, I'm sure you are exhausted at times, try to rest when you can. Best wishes to you both .

Smow, he has been poorly for a while, and losing a lot of weight (as well as having long tern Alzheimer's)
During a recent spell i hospital they discovered he has cancer in both lungs, chest cavity, behind the trachea, and in some of his bones.
He has come home to be where he is the most accustomed to, and is comfortable for the time being.
Brought him home with the promise of help, which didn't materialise for another 4 weeks, just started trickling in now.
Islay they delivered a hoist thingy and sling, but I have to wait to use it as it's a 2 person job they say, and me being one of them, I have to be shown how to use it by Occ Health. (Monday week)
Think that's it, thanks for all good wishes, and yes, I will be indulging myself a bit whilst he in in respite :)

Hi Ferlew x
The hoist should make moving from chair to bed & vice versa much easier, my best wishes to you x
You are being a wonderful wife. Please look after yourself.
I've a friend in a similar position. You must keep strong for both of you. Keep nagging for help, friend (H) had to, but eventually it arrived. xx
Ferlew....I think you are doing brilliantly.....and you don't go on or moan......I have nothing but admiration for the way you are coping..

Do have some time for things you like to do.....even if it's just sitting quietly and day dreaming....

Love Gx
how difficult, ferlew....can't be easy at all....do try and get some rest during the respite....
