Need New Keyboard - Help !
4 Answers
My old silver-coloured keyboard has given up the ghost. I thought buying a new white or silver keyboard would not be difficult, but it seems to be impossible. I think black keys and black plastic give me eyestrain. I have tried Tesco, PC world and Maplins, but they have only expensive and rather pointless wireless keyboards in white or silver. There is an added problem - I am told that "modern" keyboards ( anyone would think my computer was as old as the dinosaurs - not 3 years old yet ) all have USB connections, whereas the only spare USB socket I can find is on the front of my computer, which means the wire is all over the place. The old keyboard had a little round plug. Have these connections become obsolete ?
I also need the keyboard to have some pegs (?) legs ( ?) - whatever you call them - underneath to give it an angle.
Please help me find what I need. Not a wireless keyboard. Just a replacement for the old one.

(I'm using a reconditioned Windows 7 machine, bought for under a hundred quid, but it's still got 2 USB ports on the front and 4 on the back). Are you sure that you've looked properly?
As you've suggested, most modern machines no longer have PS/2 sockets, which your old keyboard has.
Assuming that you can locate a spare USB socket, this should be ideal for your needs:

(That's not found from just a random bit of web-searching. It's the same keyboard as that which I'm typing on right now. Much as I hate to endorse anything with the word 'Microsoft' on it, I have to admit that it's one of the best keyboards I've ever used - and, yes, it has got fold-out legs at the rear to give it the slope you require).

You could use one of these - some keyboards may include this with them.
