A very close friend whom I met via Facebook is going through a horrid situation. I've been in a very similar situation and I feel helpless that I can't be there to help her.
I was up at 6am consoling her.
I couldn't be any further away if I tried to be and it kills me.
We are both Diabetics and both recovering from a diabulimia - we talk everyday. We play guessing games when we check our readings, we grumble together and we are very much alike.
I just want to hug her and tell her it's going to be ok.
Hugs come in all shapes, sizes and forms.....just like people. You are hugging her from a distance.... you are going out of your way to give her support and show your love and concern from a distance..... sometimes that is just what is needed..... we don't need to see the people who love us and care for us....we can feel it. I am absolutely certain you friend is very thankful for all your love and care. She would do the same for you x
Your friend will appreciate you more than you will ever know Queenie.
Just by having someone available, irrespective of the hour is comforting beyond words. xx
You are doing everything you can Queenie, being far apart doesn't stop you being a good friend. I am sure she appreciates you being online, sometimes a virtual hug is all it takes.

She is doing ok and is glad that I am there - feel better now. Friend is awaiting call from eye hospital in a further town but her Dr is doing his damndest to get her seen - which I am relieved about. She seems upbeat but a little down as the procedure she needs done will affect her work - greatly but she is looking to find a solution.
She showed me her eye scan from yesterday and I nearly died with shock!
