what happens to your body when you die from a heroin overdose? what is the actual cause of death, i.e heart stopping, brain frying??? also is the only way to die from injection or can 'chasing the dragon' kill you too?

also, if a person has taken heroin for 10 years and who know how much to take from experience just one day die from it? could it just be because the stuff is a little bit stronger this time then the rest?

Wow, what a downer!!!!!
Go to www.nida.nih.gov or contact 'Mainliners', a heroin support group.Heroin is sold illegally and therefore 'cut' with other substances which means you can never rely on the quality or consistency. This in itself is dangerous as some dealers have been known to cut heroin with other poisons. Respiratory heart failure occurs after an OD; collapsed veins occur after continued use and the user ends up injecting in the groin; infections like hepatitis, HIV and malaria can be spread if needles are shared. It's lose! lose! lose! all the way.
one of my close family members was a long-term junkie and finally died from it about 8 years ago. in his case he was able to work (altho intermittently) and raise a family while using. but like all junkies, you are constantly craving an ever bigger high so along with heroin he would use coke and pills. so i guess, you CAN live for 10 years plus, but a junkie's logic is not like a regular person's logic and it will always get you in the end. he finally died from a mix of heroin and cut glass. never trust dealers.
there are two main answers:1 in an accute case it is most often respiratory failure. I'm a paramedic and it is quite common for us to encounter this, and if we are called quickly enough quite easy to sort out. 2 chronic users tend to depleat their immune system, catch bbv's (blood born viruses) or in extreme cases suffer malnutrition. Nice eh?
if its from an overdose it apparently slows down your breathing rate until eventually your respiratory system shuts down...had a lecture in class from police about this today boo
