The Entertainment Industry has now opened the doors, I do not condone this practice in any way but Jesus, it's getting out of hand, what will they say next, this person that person is invading my space, will they ask for separate seats next?
Drinking alcohol on TV, and possibly (ah-hem) beforehand is never a good idea.
Placing ones hand on another’s knee, male or female, when unwanted, is an invasion of privacy.
No one is saying the knee is a ‘sex object’ (Zacs winces at the clumsiness of this description)
Your rationale shows exactly why it is so difficult for (mainly) women to be able to stop (mainly) men touching them unbidden.....and why it is difficult for them to be taken seriously when they do complain.
yeah dogs and small kids aside
I say sorry if I touch people on the street
on a bus I was aligning my aching back onto a pole thing ( they stick out in various places on buses) and someone squealed behind me
and i turned to the young muslim women and said 'I am sorry I thought you were a bit of metal' - she had a sense of humour
We am talking about an unwanted advance. Touching someone’s knee is a classic sexual entreé. So much so that it’s used as a device in films and tv progs to indicate the underlying intentions of the toucher.
I hope this gets taken as a serious comment and not twisted, have you ever been "Tapped" by the same sex? what I mean by that, a few of us were in a church bell tower years ago, this bloke appeared & came out with a few crude words, you could see what he meant, my mates and I shot down the stair's the dirty bsds.
If she didn't like it then why didn't she tell him there and then not to do it? It's alright pulling faces and moving his hand but telling him in no uncertain terms would have been better, on TV or not!
I don't think its so much to do with sex directly as to do with arrogance....disrespect. In fact plain old bad manners. the sort of bad manners that says "I am more important than you...I don't have to consider your wishes or feelings"
jackthehat
Just like the 'racist' word it is due to over publication of the cry "sexual assault" at every given opportunity, that is causing the more serious sexual accusations not to be taken more seriously.
I don't suppose that I have worded this correctly, but I know what it means and what I am trying to get across.
