So Asquith, what are the symptoms of pancreatic cancer?
I thought that you would have cut and pasted them to help us OR God forbid to give us all a link....website...NHS website that you keep going on about.
Anne I understand everything about the OP. You are telling us to familiarise ourselves with (and hence recognise) the symptoms. What don't you understand about basically 'what's the point'?
All these types of days are about raising awareness, not necessarily about probing ones self for lumps/bumps/symptoms. The more people are familiar with things like this, the better.
It's not an attitude, that cancer has appalling survival rates so there is little point in recognising symptoms they can do nothing about. By all means promote the day and associated charities but don't just tell people to look stuff up and then worry themselves to death.
When you urge others to familiarise themselves with the symptoms of pancreatic cancer, do you mean those symptoms which invariably manifest when the cancer has already become locally advanced or, worse still, metastatic?
This place really is becoming an unpleasant nest of vipers. OK so Anne's post about familiarising oneself with pancreatic cancer symptoms wasnt well done. Nonetheless, she felt it sensible just to gently raise awareness. Perhaps it is something close to her heart?
Anyway, I looked up the symptoms and I dont have any. So one person looked.
Well I also looked but I was already aware of the prognosis. There was nothing viperous meant by me, I genuinely do not see the point of people worrying about something they can do very little to help but obviously some can't see that point of view and prefer to interpret it negatively.
I'm glad you don't have the symptoms, BM, but the point that some of us were making is that symptoms of pancreatic cancer nearly always only present after it's too late. The prognosis for this particular cancer is indeed very poor.
If Anne is trying to raise awareness of this disease that's all well and good but, speaking from experience, Anne does like to disrupt threads on this topic if certain people (namely myself) impart knowledge or advice.
