Blood Test Hba1C
12 Answers
Went for my yearly review (bloods) and was told they were doing HbA1c blood test as last time it was 42 and apparently it should be between 20 - 41. This they told me, makes me Pre-diabetic, although nobody told me at the time. This time, the figure is 37. Does this mean I am now in the clear or does it mean I need to cut back on sugar and other stuff to hopefully get it even lower?

With a blood sugar analysis it just gives your blood sugar reading for just that moment in time, hence if you behaved yourself for a couple of days ( diet wise) you could get away with a normal reading, thus fooling the medics. You can't fool them with the Hba1c reading.
The Freestyle Libre - I haven’t no as it hasn’t been released up here yet. I believe it was meant to be this month. I will be enquiring when I go to see my nurse next month.
I’ve been under a lot of stress recently so I was expecting a rise which is really bad because I was going down and doing really well.

I know you probably will, queenie, but keep on at them to give you one. I'd think you'd be an ideal candidate for it, with the problems you have controlling your blood sugars. My son tests so many more times during the day, and also if/when he wakes in the night, and adjusts his insulin accordingly.
You'll get there, now all the stress of today is over. Not easy I know, but worth all the effort to keep yourself on track :)
