I always thought itches and tickles were our brains trying to tell us their is something crawling on us. This goes back to primal times however. When we slept on the floor or in trees with spiders and ants. One reason for tickles/itches could be our brain thinking something is on our skin when it is not. This could be why scratching that itch is so satisfying,...

itech? do you mean itch....
Question Author
Of course. What's wrong, did I confuse you with your reading lessons?
-- answer removed --
rudeness from someone doesn't help matters, perhaps you should check your spelling before posting. bye.
Question Author
Thanks spath. Interesting answer and so pleased you at least had the intelligence to enable yourself to see through my clumsy spelling mistake
Shouldn't this post be in Technology?
Itch? Too complicated to describe.......a mixture of a certain type of nerve endings combined with a chemical irritation, one of which is histamine.
Scratching for relief?.........no known feasible theory has been put forward.

. . . and perhaps you should think whether what you have to say is really worth saying emma.
I think itches are also caused by bits of skin flaking off and irritating the skin/nerves

Why Togo? I put I in 'body and soul' but it concerns the body. Now if I were a robot . . .
I saw the op headline and thought it was going to be a question about International Technology. You of course had the opportunity to post a rider apologising for the spelling mistake instead of being rude. If you knew how to spell itch that is, before a clarification was requested.

Well, Tog you've only demonstrated who wrong one can be. And while we're on the subject why is rudeness confused with criticism? Rudeness is only felt when the comments made by the small minded or the arrogant are challenged.
All this palaver over a itch !! :-)

By the way, in case anyone else would like to extract the urine over my poor typing skills can I say I suffer badly from rheumatism but refuse to let it rule my life. I'm only sorry if I offend anyone.
A spelling mistake is not a big deal. We have all done it, and are in the main able to make a simple correction or handle a correction with good grace. Gratuitous and calculated rudeness in another matter. As for small mindedness well..............Example.

' rudeness in another matter'
Let him who is without sin cast the first stone
Oh if you like I will point out that "an scratch" should be a scratch.

Scratch, scratch, miaow miaow.
Question Author
You see what I mean about being small minded. emma was the first posting and she thought my doubtful typing ability was so important that she had to shine a light on it when it was blatantly obvious what I meant. Small minded, and I gave as I got. Likewise with you, and you're not gonna stop till you've regained a certain degree of honour which means I'll be here all day.
now chaps..play nice.... you scratch my back I'll scratch yours !! since reading this I have a terrible urge to scratch right between the shoulder blades..and can't reach !!
Emma asked you if Itech was meant to be itch. Perfectly reasonable request if we were to make sense of the question. You however decided that it was a criticism and proceeded to, counter to Site Rules, post a churlish and deliberately hurtful riposte.
