The reason was he thinks I am selfish. It was over text and since he shut down his phone I couldn’t explain it was a misunderstanding.

Poor you. Not a nice place to be when you're in limbo regarding your relationship. However it seems that he is probably having a sulk and knows you will be upset not being able to contact him, which is why he has done it. I think he will be quite shocked to see that you havent contacted him and then he may worry that he's pushed you too far. Wait it out -you have nothing to lose really. If I'm right he will contact you and if he doesn't he cant care for you much and you're better off without him and find someone new. This behaviour happened to me in a relationship many moons ago and when I stopped bothering and made no attempt at contact he came back professing undying love, but alas it was too late because I no longer cared. I wish I had taken that stance earlier and it may have stopped all the heartache and a better relationship may have followed. Hindsight is a wonderful thing! Good luck anyway.
