My dr suspects that I am suffering from this and has taken a whole heap of bloods to confirm it.
Does anyone know the long term effect of malnutrition and what the treatment is.
TBH I was a bit shocked as I kinda assumed this was something the people suffering in a famine area got.
Apparently, malnutrition is not uncommon after bariatric surgery. It makes sense that the body can't absorb as many nutrients as it needs. Have you been prescribed any supplements? https://www.verywell.com/malnutrition-after-gastric-bypass-surgery-3156876
Sorry Pasta etal only just saw your responses, I take forceval prescription strength multi vitamins, calcium and iron also daily tablet of lansoprazole.
I do try as far as possible make a balanced diet but protein has to be at the head of anything I eat.
I cannot take smoothies as I have an issue with sugar and it makes me 'dump' - that's what its called I am not talking about the toilet visit.
I can manage 1/2 a pair or nectarine an occasional cherry or 2 but grapes, bananas, strawberries etc are out. Veggie smoothie sound disgusting, and unfortunately due to the size of my stomach veggies need to be second to protein
I only have 20% of my stomach and my consultant says protein must me what I concentrate on, I would imagine that’s why I take prescription strength vitamins.
