My Sore Front Tooth

I was tidying up earlier and managed to what one of my front teeth with a heavy glass lid from the slow cooker. That was three or four hours ago and there is no indication that it is going to fall out but it still hurts.

Is it safe to assume that it is just 'bruised' by the impact and that it will be safe to eat something?

I am surprised that there was no more damage (apart from my brain whirring around in my skull) because it hit me with quite a strong force.

You should be OK to eat, nothing too hard and try not to bite down on that area.

The gum around the tooth will settle soon.

Thanks for the reassurance Mamy - I have grown fond of my teeth and would rather hold onto them a bit longer. x
I know the feeling x

My mum still had her teeth when she died and very few grey hairs. Alas, she was only 58.
So sad Susan.
Sorry to be a damp squib, but, depending on age I suppose, it may not heal itself. 5 years ago Mr J2, trying to put a 6ft fence post in the ground, somehow miscalculated and dealt himself a hefty blow to the front of his mouth. Over the next week or so I watched, horrified, as one of his incisors descended and eventually fell out.

Based on this experience - Iwould consult a dentist.
Has the tooth settled?
Try a painkiller tablet or two. They might help for now.

It's still a bit sensitive but I don't think that it will fall out. I hate going to the dentist so I will go there only as a last resort. I can only take Paracetamol but I have been taking them - not that they are doing much.
Is the pain still as bad or has it abated?

Tilly, I can't honestly say that it hurt much - it was more sensitive or tender. It only feels sore when I remember about it. ☺

I have tired myself out today sorting, grouping, valuing etc donated postcards for my voluntary job. I have one from 1908 that it in better condition than me ☺
Hope it settles soon, get some rest.
