At this stage, we have only half the story, and that’s what he has presented to the tribunal.

It’s entirely possible that there is more to this story, but we will only kno what that is when he has been cross examined.

Right now, it’s like being a member of a jury and deciding that the person in dock is definitely innocent, because he’s looked us in the eye and said, “I didn’t do it.”

Undoubtably. And if the reporting process used in each case is well documented, robust and if the reports were assessed by a third party (as they surely should be), then he should be in a pretty strong position.

Take for instance the doctor accused of failing to be able to operate an ultrasound - could he or couldn’t he? If he couldn’t, was it part of his core competencies (eg. what is his speciality)?

These are pretty straightforward questions that all have binary answers. If the doctors were previously found wanting by the hospital trust, there would be documentation supporting this chap.

If not, then his case is weakened.

If he was awarded “Doctor of the Year” I rather suspect that of all the foreign staff working with him (and we know how the NHS depends heavily on foreign workers), few could have perceived him in the same way as his three accusers – in which case their competence and their agendas need to be examined thoroughly and honestly – and the treatment he’s received is quite shameful.

Exactly. We all know racism is the new Witchcraft. If there's someone you want to punish or get rid of, it's usually enough to simply make the accusation whether there's any evidence of it or not*.

It should be noted that the tone of the article (as presented) is set to elicit a specific response (how could we

As I said, it's usually enough to make the allegation. Everyone involved is so petrified of being seen to side with the alleged witch/communist/racist that they go along with the mob to avoid becoming a target themselves.

That being said, sp is right. We have one side of this story, and it is in the Mail. I'm talking about the general principle of playing the racism card to attack an enemy.
