Sulphites And Atrial Fibrillation
3 Answers
I bought a bottle of diluting blackcurrant juice tonight and had a couple of glasses with my meal. About an hour later I noticed my paroxysmal AF was back. Periods of 3-5 minutes of fluttering and then about 40 minutes of sinus rhythm. I noticed on the bottle in bold it contains something called Meta Bisulphite, bold meaning people may have an intolerance to it. I have noticed this with sulphur dioxide it sets it off so I avoid things with it that are written on the label, I must have overlooked it. It said something on the internet scary about ventricles. Is there a link between AF and sulphites?

Your question re. the internet comments of the ventricles being involved highlights my concern upon internet searches, by links or websites which may cause confusion, concern and misinformation to those who are informed. The ventricles may be involved in PAF but to much less an effect than the atria, but of course if the PAF is left untreated for a long period of time, then on rare occasions, the ventricles may come under starin.
