Could you live without the internet and all its associated trappings (FB, Twitter, Skype, AB etc)?
Theres a lot of research that's associated dopamine production in the brain with a reliance on todays technology.
I see a lot of people that seem to spend an inordinate amount of time both on here and FB. (and I'm not excluding myself, I KNOW that I spend to much of my spare time on social media) But I do try to curb it a bit. Nevertheless the internet *IS* addictive. Or is it just me?
I sometimes long for the days when people actually spoke to each other rather than having their noses buried in their phones.

I think I'd be lost without my PC but of course I would get used to that eventually, I only use a phone to make a call.

Yes, there's a strong element of addiction and reliance.
Technology certainly is addictive. Just look at the number of people who have their eyes glued to a mobile phone in waiting rooms, on buses, etc. Children as young as 4 or 5 are being shown how to use computers in schools, and they will grow up believing that if it isn't on a screen of some sort, then it isn't real.
We are a household of four adults, we have all the Technology with whistles and bells on but we still make time to talk to each other, a lot, as for walking about with noses buried in phones, it just does not happen, unless they are being used for a call phones are in pockets or handbags
I think AB is addictive !
I think anything can be addictive to the right people. I don't think it replaces talking to people, it's an extra, not instead of.
I rarely use my phone but I do spend too much time on my PC, especially at weekends. Not an addiction, I could live without it.
Why do many older folk think that whenever the younger lot have their noses in a Phone, tablet or laptop it’s about social media? Yes social media is used by 99% of the younger generation and even the older lot who ARE NOT technophobes BUT....I AND many People use the Internet for different things, learning new languages, doing a course, the theory test, emails, curiosity about something that pops into your head, directions, job searching, recipes, films, tv’s, jokes news, online banking, booking holidays, checking your investments, competitions and the list goes on ALL whilst having social media apps in which if anyone posts anything of interest to you you’ll get an immediate notification which is what our //we want it all, right now//generation wants and receives.
We’ve never had it so good technology wise.

Sometimes it isn’t addictive, some people confuse their laziness with addiction and call all day being on the net not doing anything productive or learning anything new an //addiction to the net// when all it is is really just time wasting on an industrial scale.

//it’s called MULTITASKING. //
LOL.
Tell that to ur boyfriend/husband next time ur making love and he decides to reply to a texy halfway through.
Im not joking...this is now happening with our addiction to technology.
A portal to all the knowledge ever produced in the world..........of course it’s adictive. It was the stuff of dreams when I was a boy.
Question Author
Spath, HOW are you with ur friends if ur replying to this.? And they are replying to their friends?
In what way are you with them????
Lol...wouldn't happen in this house.

If you see my son on his phone he's shuffling his music.

I can understand you being cross if texting is interrupting your love making.

I'd be tetchy at that.
