Not once this beautiful summer did I smell a barbecue. And where I live they buy anything and everything - yet no gorgeous smell.

Had you a lovely smell

no not one round here - a little disappointing

Had lots of BBQs, but it would need a good breeze to get the aroma to you from North Kent
Bbq’s, the smell of freshly cut grass and fresh sweat with a hint of perfume or aftershave signify summer to me
round here they always seen to barbecue cheap sausages and it stinks
There have been a few bbqs near me and I've had a few aromas wafting over but its mostly been smoke from bonfires.
//round here they always seen to barbecue cheap sausages and it stinks//

My friends neighbors keep barbecuing a horrible fish which smells like a mix of burnt nappies and toxic waste.

Whatever it is I wouldn’t eat it if you paid me.

Does anyone know what species it might be?
No thank goodness. Can't stand barbecued food.
Really Andres? Maybe you haven’t had the real deal made by real southern states bbq Kings.
Not bbq Kings but PITMASTERS as they’re known

Having spent a holiday in Turkey in the 80s where you couldn't escape the smell of charcoal. Also the health warnings re barbecued food and carcinogens. You can keep your barbecues.
andres have you ever heard of anyone dying from eating bbq's?
Oh and we have had them nearly every night, chicken, fish and steaks are our favourites
Rockrose --- Read up on this topic. It was in the news a lot about 12 months ago.
Thank you I don't need to read up on it - it was in the news for 5 minutes of scaremongering then nothing since.
More chance of me being hit by a bus that dying from eating to much bbq's imo.
//andres have you ever heard of anyone dying from eating bbq's?//

Agreed , I’d like to see proof, links and stats proving this.
Who mentioned dying? I didn't. I don't do links but it shouldn't be too difficult to read up about barbecued food and the links to cancer.
I'd say this year has brought the usual smells associated with summer, including the occasional barbecue nearby.

I love the smell of sun drying laundry myself.
