I was stung 3 times, I think it was a hornet but not sure, on my arm, back and finger.

I've washed the areas, put ice on and then Dettol but it still really hurts,

Any advise really appreciated.

Maybe take an antihistamine tablet if you have any
You have treated yourself in an expert fashion and the only thing that i can add is Ibuprofen 400mg.s as and when necessary.
An antihistamine...........yes if you have one.
or paracetamol in a decent dose
My advice would be to keep a badminton racquet to hand for separating the two halves of the beast

Thanks everyone, little bar steward attacked me for no reason, first I knew of it was when I felt the sting, I jumped with pain and he got me another couple of times.
I`ve only ever been stung once. I was 14 and I was sitting in the dentist's waiting room when a wasp flew up my skirt and stung me on the bum. I was a typical teenager (of the time) and too proud to make a sound or even flinch as that was uncool. When I went in to see the dentist he asked me how I was and I said I was fine. When he asked my mum how I was, she told him I had just been stung on the bum. He said "Oh, she didn`t tell me" and Mum said "Well, she wouldn't would she". I was a bit mortified.
You've done right, but if it were a hornet you'd know about it. I was stung by one which got behind my specs. and the whole of that side of my face swelled up - I ended up at the hospital - took about a week before I could see properly.

OH goodness Jourdain, that sounds awful.
It's just that it looked smaller than a wasp, it's still really hurting.
I was stung today, but it wasn't a hornet, it was Amazon.
OK, Jackdaw, back to your own thread.
Did you try any of the advice?
There's a cream you can get over the counter which is great for bites and stings. I've been using it for years after reading about it in the Times: ANTHISAN
Not yet, AZ. I shall leave it till tomorrow then try again. If still no success I will have to seek professional hands-on opinion.
