On Thursday I was unlucky enough to sustain cat-related injuries to my right arm. The wounds were cleaned and dressed by the Vet.

They are no longer painful, more uncomfortable and itchy. They look as if they are healing, but have app with nurse Wednesday so she can check.

Is there any chance I will need a tetanus jab?

How long ago was your last jab, wolf ?
Doubt it wolf.........the wound probably was deep. it was cleaned by the Vet and in any case you should have it within 48 hours of the wound.
Bit late now.
"wasn't deep" ^^^

Seekeerz - over ten years ago

Sqad - thanks. The six scratches are more than just surface wounds but are not deep. The tooth shaped wounds are hard but no sign of infection.

This is what happens when the Vet tries to take a girl cat's temperature. :-(
Thank you for giving the time frame, Sqad, I wasn't sure but knew it had to be fairly soon after the injury.

What is the current thought on tet shots ....one every how many years ?? Thanks
And of course you were at the most dangerous end, trying to protect the Vet ....ouch !!
Seekeerz.....the recommended time is every ten years, but I doubt that very many people follow that advice..........I certainly haven't.
No I haven't either, but think I'm more or less up to date....thanks again.
You have bad luck with cats...

Postdog, I have bad luck with one particular cat. Princess Merlin has a very short fuse. Her brother, Frankie is a sweet boy, a mummy's boy.

:-)
I think they now say ok for even longer unless you are immune compromised. I know my last nasty injury a few years back (impaled my thigh on a tree stump while gardening )I was told as I'd had a full course in my 20s I was ok the other exception is a few areas with heavy concentrations of soil borne disease. An injury there would mean a jab more often

Last time I got a Tetanus jab was when I got the cats - day one Merlin bit me nine times on my right hand. I went to the doctor and got a Tetanus jab and I had to get two loads of antibiotics. That would have been 2007.

I'm diabetic so will check it out with the nurse on Wednesday.

I was thinking of calling her Beech, Little Beech.
