Does anyone here on AB actually feel fulfilled in life?
Don't mind admitting that I don't.
Im 52 and not once have I felt fulfilled. Not saying that I don't appreciate or enjoy life at times because I do (especially after last year, for those that remember my posts then) but there seems an emptiness that isn't been catered for.
And before the religious start, ive been down that path....
Maybe a bit of existential angst, I don't know. My cousin died at the same age as me a few years ago, maybe been a bit morbid or something!

if you mean utterly contented, no, not since I was a happy kid. But I imagine most people would say much the same, they have to take the rough with the smooth. Yes, occasionally empty, but it passes as I get involved in something.
Am 67. Worked 12 hours a day 7 days a week for many years. Never had a holiday or a car but gave my six kids everything I could. Bought my own house.
Retired due to ill health 2010.
Lost the lot. House, pension, everything I worked for.
Do I feel fulfilled? No.
Now suffer ill health and hardship.

Yes, I can agree there jno. Problem is when that something passes for the day.
I'm not sure about this fulfillment lark. I cant help wondering if its all a bit new age.

I do feel as happy as I have ever been, look as good as I ever have, do a good day's work for good money and have all the things that I ever wanted for myself (apart from kids, but I'm not going to cry about stuff that could never be). I give a bit back too.

I'm about as happy as a kid at Christmas most of the time. I am not sure whether that equates to fulfillment but I mainly walk round with a smile.

That's refreshingly honest to hear a Christian admit Theland. :-)

So do I BM. But not much else as alluded to in another thread....
Christian? Always honest. don't like to complain. Get called a drama queen.
I'd like to think those kids are standing by you, Theland.

Weve all been called something or other on here at one time or another.... The thing about growing a thick skin holds true for all!
I know I have had and am having a good life, so in that sense, yes I am fulfilled.

Sadness and emptiness comes along sometimes, today for example would have been our 43rd Wedding Anniversary.

As I said the other day, life is light and shade -sometimes the balance just isn't right for us.
Nope.
But do I allow this to affect my daily work / enjoyment. No.
Fulfilment is such a great massive thing, that I would be surprised if anyone I know truly feels it.
I'm happy ish day to day, fulfilment questions fill my head daily for many different reasons.....
I'm content. Not fulfilled. Not yet anyways x
I am fulfilled in that I have achieved all I wanted to achieve and have a well ordered, pleasant and fairly stress-free life.

Am I content? That would be a different question.
1999 had an ileostomy for 6 m
nothing, nothing has been as bad as that

but it could have been worse - sorry the treatment didnt work springs to mind

o, having no white cells - you feel so crap, you er dont feel bad .....

o having a septicaemia

so I am quite happy if I dont have a temperature and can walk
Frilly, you weren't there when I started my post. :-)
Yes always fullfilled
The brown stuff often rolls downhill into the valley where I live but I dig myself out. Smile ,feel my pulse. Don't feel sorry for myself and make sure my glass isn't half filled but fullfilled. I have every thing to live for and have been fortunate in my nigh on 80years. Fullfillment isn't handed out on a plate :-)
I am still not clear about this fulfillment thing. Most days I have are days where I have done as much as I can and been the best I can be and enjoyed it to boot. Is that fulfillment? What IS the definition of fulfillment?
You surprise me tilly, I get the impression you are very content person .
Will this do, BM?
