how different do you think your life would be now?
If you knew then (when you were young) what you know now (many years and life experiences later) how different do you think it would have panned out?

I think that very few of us really know what we want/ask of life when we are young. Although some do obviously. But if I could go back to my school years I think that I would have definitely have worked towards been an airplane pilot...that would have been my dream job. I would've made sure that I never had kids (love my son more than life now, but he wasn't planned) and I definitely would not have gone down the road of addictions of one kind or another. But wisdom comes with experience I guess..

So what about you?
(not talking about regret....useless emotion....but about how things could have been different if you knew more *then* than you do *now*.
Thanks.

I feel very lucky that I can say every decision I have made along the way has been the right one, I'd like to erase the sad parts but that's not what you're asking I know.

My eldest Grandson's ambition is to be a pilot and he's working hard towards that goal.
The only thing I would change is my addiction everything else I would do the same as in marriage to my soul mate
An off asked question on forums. I don't dwell on the past ,it's done. I don't lookback, I'm going forward .
A lot different.
Would have tried harder to convince my mother to set her class principles aside and let me go to grammar school. A better education would have opened doors to me and improved my chances.
Would not have married my first husband but would have waited for real love to come along.
If I knew then what I know now a sixteen year old me would have gone to north Wales and found a 32 year old Dave and convinced him we belonged together.
Not much tbh.
Excuse me, Nailit....x

Rowan.....there is a time. Perhaps the sixteen year old you and the thirty two year old Dave wouldn't have gelled in the way you did much later...and you did, that was so obvious.....and the longer time you had together may not have been as happy as the short time you did.

That's the way I'm thinking now.....and as you and your Dave did...we're making the most of the shorter time....but so happy time....we will have with each other......Gx
Unless I have missed something you could have many years together. I hope you do and you don't waste a day of it.
I don't know, Rowan...when you're looking at seventy and friends die it makes you think...but yes....it also makes you not want to waste a day of it.....as long as he ditches the red bookcases...... ;-)
I'd still be the same person, "inside" so suspect little would change. There are other things I could make my living from if I had opted to. Maybe I'd choose something else for a change. But to really improve things I'd need a different mindset.
I think I would wish I had learnt quicker

I made several wrong turns and cut my losses - so useless I wish I hadnt passed 'go' on some of them - and I wish I could have said
'yup bad idea - dont even try'

oh and I trusted people I shouldnt have
you know like trusting teachers who are going around saying - "my class is a class of duds - worse than last year by golly - "thick" is overdescribing them".- when he neednt have, didnt care about the advice because we were thick and didnt say 'you can get better advice elsewhere'
You will note there is no cost to the teacher but there is to the pupil.

I wish employers didnt look on teenage workers as units to be exploited altho I am sure that is still going on

I wish I had taken up the sport I was good at - earlier
[ being good at sport at skool is life changing]

enough wishes - we are here and we are here !
Make sure I never got caught.
I wish I had realised that leaders and earth shakers often say 'this is your fault you are a bad ( whatever ) '
when they know it is their fault and are intentionally diverting blame. And dont feel regret when later - much later confronted

blimey how many leaders and earth shakers did PP find had clay feet - at least 90% - ( politicians Harold Wilson and Tony Bliar spring to mind whom I never met I hasten to add )

because when they get their inevitable come-uppance you think o god I really have wasted my time. [and could have better spent the time doing something else = wasted opportunity cost]
Shudda poisoned the witch MILaw at our reception so she could break her apron strings to her son. That would save me her 6am daily phone calls.
// I don't know, Rowan...when you're looking at seventy and friends die it makes you think.//

yeah agreed - dont have a 'to do later' list
Bet she didn't get her husband to climb in through your window to take his washing so it was done properly, Tambo......or send him around with cooked meals of an evening so she knew her son was eating well...... :-)
I think I would have moved to the countryside and become self sufficient in a "Good Life" kind of way.
Unfortunately it's now too late because I need the medical facilities of a town close to hand.
No, Peter....the children at school called me Mrs Do It Now......and now I make sure I do.... :-)
most of the life changing events that happened to me were not by my choice and turned out fine. We are here and this is now basically.
// I would have tried harder to convince my mother to set her class principles aside and let me go to grammar school. A better education would have opened doors to me and improved my chances. //

yeah my dad came out with ' I dont think you are good enough to go to Cambridge' ( he had not gone there himself) Lucky it was so late that all it did was make me work harder .... I still think he must have been having a bad day
