Was woken by a phone call this morning at 4:30 by a phone call from my sons GF to say that he had taken an overdose while staying at her mums house overnight. He's been acting a bit bizarre for the past few weeks including threatening to jump out of my high rise flat window (only found this out a couple of night ago). Last I heard he hadn't yet been seen by anyone in hospital.
As you all know, ive had my own share of mental 'episodes' but my own father once tried to take his life and suffered with depression and one of my sisters has spent time in a psych ward.
I don't know where any of this will all end.
Why does stuff like this seem to run in families?
Apologies if I sound a bit incoherent, Im tired and confused and maybe need to offload a bit.
Thanks.
I think you’d need a psychiatrist to answer that accurately, Nailit and to clarify the latest thinking on whether it’s genetic or ‘learned’ behaviour. Hope your son can see the light soon.
Whilst there is some evidence to say mental health can be inherited there is a lot to be learned from what children pick up from adults during their childhood
guessed it. I had a 3am load of abuse from sick son, blaming me for his illness & all his ails. I cant repeat his actual name for but smelly woman is close. Am not visiting him till he apologises!
Tambo, sorry to hear about that.
He hadn't been smoking weed last night, hes actually quiet mellow when he does smoke it..the paranoia seems to be a long term, after effect with him.
From the little I know of the effects of cannabis, I don’t believe the paranoia associated with it manifests itself as an immediate effect. I understand it’s more of a long-term thing.
Thanks for link danny, appreciated.
Im going try grab an hours sleep until I hear something more from the hospital or his GF. Thanks for replies everyone.
