Hand (Crush) Grippers
7 Answers
Has anyone used hand grippers to strengthen their grip? Do they work? Most reviews seem to be on body building sites and are connected with building up the forearms. I just want to strengthen my grip which isn't as good as it used to be. I`m referring to taking the lids of jars before anyone wonders!

I've tried three different sorts, 237 more to keep my hands supple when I was massaging.
Maybe because my hands are small but they were uncomfortable to use.
I much preferred a firm rubber ball....that allows you to move your hands in a much better way and alter the pressure to suit .....and also build up the pressure gradually which I think's important....
The grippers are more of a single repetitive exercise always needing you to use the same strength and that didn't suit me.....
If you can follow that waffle!!

Thanks for the replies and the link. I have a lid opener thingy - my Mum gave me one as a christmas stocking filler years ago. Hardly ever gets used for taking lids off but has seen plenty of action removing the corks from Cava bottles! I saw some of the hand grippers in the Flying Tiger shop but I wondered if they might cause RSI. I hadn't thought about a ball - I might try that instead. Thanks again.
When I used to go climbing/bouldering regularly, grip strengtheners were all the rage among some of the keener climbers.
I used something like this:

It says for the forearm, but in fact if focusses on the hand and fingers.
