Been invited to attend a Dementia Awareness workshop at my surgery.
I do forget things.
"Where are my glasses? What didI do with that thing etc?"
Also, "You asked me that before, Dad! Don't you remember?"
No I don't!
What good would "Awareness," do?
Could I cure it or de.ay it?
A bit scary!

Have you seen your Dr about forgetfulness Theland or is it perhaps just something they might invite people over a certain age to so that they can watch out for signs?
Awareness is just that, plus knowing what the signs are makes it more likely for someone to seek help at an early stage - there are medications that can help if needed.

Remember when it comes to our own health - knowledge is power if sought from the right people.

No kidding Mamya. Thought I posted this thread, thought iPad crashed.
Went to post it again, and then found it already there!
Not chronic but a bit daft!
I understand that in some cases its onset can certainly be slowed.

Please go along then report back.

Will do Canary.
I think if you calmed down a bit and stopped trying to post on so many threads and start new ones at the same time, your mind may be able to keep up better.

Good luck with the Workshop.
Forgetfulness is not always a sign of dementia, it can be just you have a busy mind,I forget everything, I speak to my sis and she says, you said that already or I lose things, there's only me in the house - I know dementia first hand having looked after my Mam and I feel if you have it you have nowt to worry about, because she didn't know but yet we have a many in our community with dementia - one man made a tv advert to highlight the reasons why people should be Dementia aware and we also wear a pin if you see the blue pin on a person, I don't have a link,it signals the person you are speaking to has dementia (just see it's sold in UK too https://shop.alzheimers.org.uk/weddings-and-celebrations/Sparkling%20flower%20pin%20badges%20x%2025 )

here is my neighbour on National tv advert
When my nan was first tested for dementia she was told to stop drinking. The work shop would probably give you advice like that!! to see if it improves things.

I'm forgetful, some people are, me and my uncles couldn't get through the day without our lists. (if we could find them)
I'm aware of things not being as they used to be for some time now. Mentioned a particular symptom twice at the GP surgery, but no reaction. I'm assuming everything is typical old age stuff that "they" don't tell you about; and I try not to think of a future with further deterioration. Doesn't bear thinking about and would just spoil the present time.
