Flu Jab

Hey

I got my flu jab on Friday and it was quite swollen after etc...

It’s still sore and has been incredibly itchy the last few days. Do I just ignore it?

I’ve suffered flu twice during my working life, each time I was laid low for a week in bed. The last time was back in around 2010, when all but one of those in the department I worked succumbed to the bug.

My cure is to sweat it out, lying in bed with extra covers.

For me, the first symptoms of flu is a pain whenever I move my eyes to the right or left.

Given that I only suffer flu once every 20 years or so – seven days of incapacitation is better than suffering the side effects of a jab each year, the efficacy of which is questionable.

All the more reason to get the jab as one increases in years!
I guess my experiences are different to yours, given that I work next to an ITU.
Your choice, can only advise, though I’m often perplexed at stories on the www of supposed bad reactions when over 100 of us in our department have it routinely with no effects whatsoever, but hey-ho.

Chilldoubt, Before this year, the worst reaction to the flu jab I had ever had was 24 hours of wooziness....not enough to feel ill, just I didn't feel like doing stuff....as though I had had a bad night's sleep. The reaction this year hit out of the blue. My sister, who was visiting me went and got her jab when I did, she had the very next vaccine out of the box and had nothing but an achey arm which was lucky as she took over running the house for three days. As I said, absolutely nothing compared to real flu. If Sis hadn't been there, I would still have managed.
