Have you ever felt trapped? What's the cure?
Just feeling a bit trapped at the moment. My company is announcing redundancies before Xmas, and it's fairly certain that I'm for the chop. The thing is, I want to move out of the rented house I share with four others, but can't afford to without a better job. Also, my current hours are about 11am to 8pm, and I feel very isolated - I move to the city in which I work in January, but just haven't met that many people.
Can't find another job at the moment- can anyone suggest something to help-? apart from drugs or alcohol which will make things worse..

You say your are moving to the city in whch you work - why do this if you are about to be chopped? I made a bold move to Newcastle when I felt in a similar situation a few years back, and have never looked back since. I went through a tough period whilst it was happening, but kept reminding myself that it was temporary and I was in control. Don't aim to move into somewhere alone though - as house sharing ina new city, for all its faults and frustrations, is a great way of expanding your social circle.
Good luck!
Hi Tock,
You seem lonely but hey thats what we are here for to try and help...losing your job maybe wont help you feel better but try to line another one up if you can before you lose this one, there is plenty of work around now and even if it is just temping it is a fresh change...do you really enjoy your current job? maybe its time to find something different...grab this head on before it tries to grab you what would make you more settled as it sounds like you cannot have the better living without the better job so maybe securing a job that would bring you into contact with more people this way you would maybe make some new friends when you have moved, whatever is going to make you feel more settled first you must do then lead on from there, and hey we are all here if you need advice
