smoking

There has been a lot of mention recently about the apparant health benefits of moderate alcohol consumption. This got me thinking about the effects of smoking on health. Obviously I know that its very harmful to health and can cause horrible diseases and give you wrinkles, make u smell etc etc. But does anyone know of any health benefits to smoking? (or is this a totally stupid question?)

I am being really honest here but everyone thinks I look about 30ish & are very shocked when I tell them my age. BUT my advice to all non smokers is "Do NOT start"......... the propaganda may hold some truth?.
i am nearly 50 and have smoked since i was 15....i havnt got wrinkles at all..or a smokers cough..its the luck of the draw...i think if you eat well and look after yourself then smoking wont harm you..it can deplete your vitamin supplys so its best to take a good vitamin tablet daily and keep topping up with lots of vitamin c...i have been trying to cut down to 10 a day this week and managed it for 2 days then went back to my old habits of 20...so i will restart again today..i cant give up completely as i enjoy a smoke to much..but i feel i could cut down its just breaking old habits..
I cannot see any health benefits to why you should smoke except for people with MS. They need to smoke hash and it helps them feel better to relieve their pain. Normal cigaretts are full of tar and that is what you are sucking in. How can tar be good for you? It has already been proven cigarettes are bad for you so should be banned in public. Just think of the money it costs to smoke. Somebody told me her family smokes 200 of cigarettes between them every week. Unbelievable!
