And surely if the person doesn't circumcise themselves, it can't show a faith in god, one because they are young and clueless, two because they were forced by someone else.
Now if circumcision showed a faith on god by doing it yourself, that would make sense.
Spath, if one is baffled, making efforts to become ‘unbaffled’ is not a bad idea.
Circumcision for Jewish boys is a symbol of the covenant between God and Abraham. It was God’s idea.
For Muslims the reason given is ‘purification’ – cleanliness – but since Islam has emulated Judaism since its inception, in my opinion that explanation is debatable.
Yes definitely for medical reasons! If you've ever seen a baby screaming in agony because their foreskin was so tight that it balloons up when they want to urinate and splits then you wouldn't hesitate.
That could be said for many things.. such as smoking around the child, smoking whilst pregnant etc.. etc.. even female genitalia mutilation. (Illegal, yes i know).
Medical reasons of course are justified, unquestionably. Medical reasons have no place for discussion on this thread because there is no need, in my opinion. I'm sure literally everyone agrees.
I mean.. we're in an age where people can apparently decide what gender they are at the age of 7 and go through process to change that. However, we're not in an age where a male can't decide for himself if he has foreskin or not.
I think the mutilation of foreskin is borderline abuse. I know i would prefer to be a man with foreskin rather than circumcised. Should every male not have this choice?
Lets not mince words. Circumcision is a form of mutilation. Genitalia mutilation where the person being mutilated has no say, or even idea about what's going on. Of course it isn't as horrific as female genitalia mutilation but that isn't a precedent for what is and isn't acceptable.
