That was my first question when I found AnswerBank. I had some funny and cheeky answers and some really helpful ones....so I stayed.
I was lovely in those days. Having moved to a new town and living alone it was a great place for some chat, banter and help with decorating, gardening and doing things to my new house.....and arranging the squares for an unusual crocheted blanket...... I bless the day Sqad sorted out my legs when the consultant couldn’t...... ;-)
It was a while before the balance began to change. It was a slow change and AB was still fun and helpful.
No longer.....people have drifted away....Flump...Barsel....so many more.
Like many members I’m posting less often. A comment I made in News a few weeks ago brought snide remarks from our coat tail member and his lady friend. Not on topic....just an excuse to have a pop at another member. Nothing new there these days but I won’t make that mistake again.
Today I looked in and saw a post about vaping. I think vaping and using ecigs are different but I have recently discovered something about using ecigs that I think is interesting and of value to those using them..... not common knowledge yet as far as I know. Like the OP it could have lead to some informative and useful comments from ecig and vape users.
Before I could type my answer the thread was going the usual way.....sniping instead of contributing to what could have been an interesting thread.
Today hasn’t been a day that would bring me back to AB..... :-(

I can talk about cats and/or dogs for hours.
Even my brother is posting infrequently which is sad because it is nice to speak to him - it's like us going to a cafe for lunch and a yap.

Don't despair, Gness.
There are still some members trying to brighten the place up, with Teacake44 producing some great posts lately. (My only problem with them is that they're too darned good - I can never think of anything to match them to post as a response!)
We value your entertaining posts too, Gness, so please don't stop making them. With certain people around here intent on producing nothing but negativity lately, we need MORE of your light-hearted stuff, not less!

You are one of my favourite people on AB, guess, so please keep posting. I don’t put anything on here regarding my political views, as I know what will happen. I just keep my posts neutral. I still read all the comments, though and do agree that there are some people who can be really offensive. It is a shame, but that is how things seem to be going in the outside world too. I wonder what Mrs Overall would have said about it all.
Gness is one of my all-time favourite ABers. But. Whilst I agree with much of what she says, the post is somewhat hypocritical in lamenting former members and criticising sniping / snide remarks whilst she herself makes some vague references to others in a condescending fashion.
Aaah, twas ever thus.

tailcoat member?
I find what you need to do on AB is not hold grudges and to take each thread and each answer for what it is at the time.
I think terms like "tailcoat member" help keep vibes and pseudo ideologies on other members which start tension on threads which otherwise could just be discussed topically.
I'm not saying you're the issue, not at all i would say the opposite.
But it is similar things that happen where people take things from other threads and try use it against the member they're debating rather than using information on the topic they're debating.
For example, if i'm discussing (lets say..) brexit, if someone was to bring up my career and how hard I work whilst at work.. then I will snipe back and fairly also.
People just need to leave out the crap.. and have discussions and debates without third party ammo.
