Hi,
My car insurance renewal is due tomorrow (Tues 22nd Oct) and I'd like some advice please.
I have been on to the well known comparison sites and have got a couple of reasonable priced quotes from reputable insurers.
The thing I'd like to ask you about is the 'Excess'.
Neither are asking for any Compulsory Excess, its £0. ... how come..?? .. is there a catch??
It also allows me to opt for No Voluntary Excess too, so does that mean if I did have to put in a claim at any time, I wouldn't have to pay anything...??? .. surely that can't be right, can it..??
(I have tried increasing my voluntary excess just to see if it reduces the quote price at all, but it made no difference)
I'm just a bit puzzled about the 'No Compulsory Excess' .. it sounds 'too good to be true'
If anyone can offer any help and guidance about this before I make any decisions, I'd be really grateful.
Thank you!
All I can suggest is that you ring the insurers to check you have understood this correctly. Does seem odd in these days that there is no compulsory excess and does seem odd that changing the voluntary makes no difference in the premium...it should! Talking to a 'real person' is all I can suggest.
low/0 excess = sky high quote. Take as much as you can afford. Excess is one of the ways they keep costs down it basically cuts out a lot of piddling claims.
