Well I am glad they are now banned. My eldest son's ex- partner worked on the medical block of a HMP. She and the screws faced serious discipline if they tried to bring in their own snout into the nick whilst the lags, who were there to be punished, could blow smoke of all types in their faces. A level playing field.
Totally ridiculous ban in my opinion.
During my own incarcerations, the screws were bigger smokers than the inmates.
All that has happened is that there is now a demand for tobacco (a totally LEGAL substance) inside and has produced a need for 'tobacco barons' and thus made way for further criminalisation of people that are already serving sentences. Since when has enjoying a smoke been a criminal offence??
