Mri Scan For As Child

One of my great granddaughters has to have an EEG and an MRI scan because of suspected temporal lobe epilepsy.
She is a very lively little lass and I'm wondering how this procedure is done on a child. She is four years old. Will she have some sort of mild sedation?
Thanks for any thoughts.

Yes....no problem, she may just accept it as quietly as a mouse but if not, she will be sedated.

Sqad, you answered the question but then added no big deal when you didn't need to. You make it sound like a walk in the park when in fact it's probably a very worrying time for the family.

Barsel...ALL families are worried about the most simplest of medical procedures.....and that is natural.

However it may be a big deal to a non -medical person, but not necessarily to a medically qualified person answering a particular question.

We will have to agree to disagree, as i did think it important to add that final phrase in what i considered to be ....reassuring.

OK sqad I see where you are coming from but to me to hear No big deal is like saying it's not worth worrying about. You could have worded it differently if your aim was to give reassurance.

i persoally think it much better to ay "this is no big deal" rather than "this test is awful and you need to worry loads about it!"

You think that is what I think sqad should have said? Very strange. The words I would want to hear would be along the lines of, it's a very safe successful procedure that is carried out regularly, try not to worry.
