Menopause, H R T And Bodily Changes
21 Answers
I’m going through the menopause with all the stuff that comes with it - hot flushes, night sweats, anxiety. I think I’m more than half way through the worst of it, but I’m bothered about the spare tyre that’s creeping up around my waist.
Would taking HRT give me the oestrogen I need to reverse the spare tyre and give me my waist back?

This might help slow weight gain. Lack of estrogen may also cause the body to use starches and blood sugar less effectively, which would increase fat storage and make it harder to lose weight.15 Feb 2019

Sorry, I can't get rid of the spare tyre etc.. I still look OK when clothed, but I know the saggy, bumpy bits are there and, sad to say, I'm not through it yet (70 last year, started at 50). I walk a couple of miles with dog every day and am generally active. When swimming regularly (have a back problem precluding stuff like jogging) I tighten up a bit. I am trying to get back on HRT (they stopped it just like that when the scare happened 50-odd years ago and I ran into a brick wall and spent months in a soaking bed, gibbering) but I don't think they believe that I still have flushes etc..
To answer your question, 'yes' I think HRT would help. (Put in a word for me while you are there, will you?)
