For the last couple of years my memory has got to the point of causing huge difficulties. I’ve seen my doctor, who referred me to a neurologist. I’ve had brain scans, MRI’s, you name it, but absolutely everything is clear I told him I was terrified that I had Alzheimer’s but he said I didn’t, and that he was baffled tbh.
I then went to see another neurologist who completely agreed with him.
When I broke my hand in November I was being showed the x-ray results on the computer screen by the doctor when I had a full blown seizure in front of him, of which I have absolutely no memory, and woke up on a hospital trolley, not having a clue what had happened. And they couldn’t explain it either.

I’m having to write things down all the time. And keep a log of things Ive forgotten .
Mr Smow took me to Centre Parks last months for a break and booked a gorgeous cottage. I said to him it’s beautiful here- why have we never stayed here before?
He looked at me in complete disbelief and said you are joking?? We stayed here 2 years ago!! I have NO memory of it.
I just don’t know what else to do, am so upset.

That’s so interesting!
How often do you have your thyroid levels checked smo ?
You need to get appointment with your GP. As for googling medical conditions, only site I use is NHS one.
Question Author
They haven’t check my thyroid level for a couple of years tbh, or have they even called me in to have it checked.
Knowing you have a problem, and not getting any answers is itself a cause of anxiety and worry.
Glad our posts have helped, and let’s hope it is a path to resolution and understanding, and hopefully a simple solution.
Because of so much physical and mental stress over recent years my memory has gone to pot. Try and stop worrying about it because it will make it worse. Keep in touch with your GP. But I would also strongly recommend that you talk to him/her about getting some counselling. Like you I worried about dementia and all other problems in my head. It's a horrible state to be in and I can empathise. Keep strong. Best wishes x

I really really appreciate all of your advice and comments xx
I can't add anything that hasn't been said. I hope you can get a solution, I can only imagine how scary it must be for you.
OK smow just get yourself an appointment tomorrow with GP then. Wishing you well xx.

Thankyou guys xx
Not really to do with the OP but if I drink caffeinated coffee I can’t get to sleep until 3 a.m. at least.
Smow, you'd do well to discuss going to a sleep clinic to look at your sleep patterns as a way to get to the bottom of your problem. There is also an online course...approved and offered by the NHS called sleepstation...the purpose of it is to get to the underlying causes of your insomnia. I gather it can be done without a GPs approval if the criteria are met.
But you HAVE to do something...and be firm with your doctor about just how much this is affecting you.

I have to make my own appointment every year to have my thyroid levels checked, the surgery does not contact me.

By sheer coincidence my hospital has just rang me this minute - they’ve called me in for an E.E.G on Friday to measure brainwaves.
Let's hope they can get to the bottom.of all this. All the best, Smow. x
smow that will not check your thyroid though? Take it you mean E.C.G?
Sorry smow misread by me. xx
Question Author
No she definitely said E.E.G.
(And yes I’m ringing doctor separately in min to arrange thyroid test).
We will get there!
Smow as I said I mistyped my search, sorry xx
