Toshiba Tv Menu In Foreign Language
9 Answers
Hi again, I have a toshiba 32L3753DB tv in the dining room. One of the grandchildren have played with the buttons and now the menu is in a foreign language(possibly Greek or Bulgarian). I know how to select English from the menu but as the menu at the moment is not in English, I don’t know how to select the right buttons. I am supposed to do a retune today, got a message on the screen. Again, I know how to do this but can’t because of foreign menu. I have tried to guess from the icons but no success. My next step is to contact toshiba but wondered if this had happened to anyone else and how to solve. Thanks.

I've been tring to make sense of the manual ( https:/ /images -eu.ssl -images -amazon .com/im ages/I/ A1eT6dj 73CS.pd f ).
As I read it, pressing the 'Menu' button (or possibly the 'Quick' button) should take you to a list of sub-menus, as follows:
Picture
Sound
Settings
Installation
If everything is in Greek, that might look like this:

If it's in Bulgarian, it might look like this:

There appear to be two ways forward from there:
Method 1:
Select the 'Settings' option.
Then select 'Languages'. (It's likely to be the second item on the list. In Greek you might see Γλώσσες . In Bulgarian you might see Езици)
That should enable you to select 'English'. (If it's labelled in Greek it's likely to be Αγγλικά. If it appears in Bulgarian it's probably Английски)
Method 2:
Select the 'Installation' option.
Then select 'First time installation'. (That's likely to be the last item in the list. If it's in Greek it might appear as Πρώτη εγκατάσταση . If it's in Bulgarian you might see Първа инсталация )
That returns your TV back to its 'out of the box' state. (You'd then need to re-scan for channels, just as you did when the set was new, but hopefully everything would be in English again. Note that, after selecting that option, you might need to turn the set off, and then on again, for the changes to take effect).
Aren't grandchildren wonderful?
;-)

Thank you all for your answers. Old geezer you did make me laugh. I have made a note of some of the words and now I think it may be Russian. I have words like Cypet, Abi6bic, ApTKa,OpHaTy. I will google to see if I can find out. Buenchico, so kind of you to take so much trouble to help me. Also twix123 for the manual, unfortunately nothing about getting rid of Russian if that’s what it is. I will go to google but if any of you know anything else, I would be very grateful.
Going throught the menus can you see anything that looks like date and time?
If so the lanuguage is possibly 3 rows up from it.

Update, I have finally done it. Typed some of the foreign menu words into google translator and lo and behold, one of those words turned out to be language. Found it on the menu and English is now restored. All remotes will now be hidden next time Grandaughter comes to visit. By the way, it turned out to be Bosnian! so I got that all wrong. Many thanks to all of you who tried to help me.
