And all hospital staff, how do they manage to avoid not only this virus, but all viruses, when dealing with it everyday.

Pot luck. I live with a nurse and when she gets ill it's like a very mild version of whats going around.
Under normal circumstances, Handwashing handwashing handwashing and gloves. Many many gloves. Aprons changed between patients and sometimes between jobs for the same patient. Additionally disposable masks changed often if needed. Scrupulous use of infection control measures so far as is humanly possible.
Saw the heading and immediately thought, "Oh good, a grown up game on AB". :-)
Normal hygiene. Plus immune systems get better.

My son’s a first year paramedic student and he says specialist teams are supposed to go to suspected Coronavirus patients but the crew he was with last week got sent to someone self isolating by mistake.
