My grand daughter is 24, and is an Agency nurse in an NHS hospital. She gets paid for the hours she works. If she doesn't work, she doesn't get paid.

She has a serious chronic medical condition (Type 1 Diabetes) and has been advised by doctors to self-isolate. How can she find out what benefits, if any, she might be entitled to if she stops work and goes into isolation?

She is very worried because no work means no money, and if she cannot afford to eat, her diabetes will make her very ill indeed, even if Covid-19 doesn't reach her.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Ask about SSP but more likely Universal Credit.
There are real advantages to being an agency nurse- just like for me as an agency teacher- but there is the downside which we probably thought as very unlikely to happen but has
>if she stops work and goes into isolation
I don't see an "if"- she needs to self isolate immediately even if it means friends and family need to help her out financially for a while if she has insufficient savings. She may be due a small tax rebate too..
I would think she’d be entitled to Universal Credit. See here
