Proof, if any needed, that mental sickness still not getting the recognition it needs.

With such an appallingly distressing background, this girl deserves treatment, not caging.

I expect the "Limp-wristed Left" will take my view, and the "Tyrannical Tories" will support the jail term. Be interesting to see how this pans out.

I suspect drug abuse may have been a factor.
Impossible to form an opinion with such limited information.
I agree with Zacs.
She needs both punishment and therapy. I think.
// I suspect drug abuse may have been a factor. //

she certainly has form in that respect -

She's a waste of space.
Wouldn't surprise me if limp-wristed lefties think she's wonderful.
Sounds more like a need for long term psychiatric care.... You always get a few going off in A and E, they drive you nuts but sad or mad usually rather than evil.
Good research, mush.
This behaviour is never black or white. She will have been assessed by professionals and they have concluded a custodial sentence was appropriate, rather than admittance to a secure mental health facility. Not everyone who has a horrendous childhood goes on to commit crimes. Drugs have obviously been a factor in her crimes, but at the end of the day she is a criminal, not 'ill' nor 'evil' just a low life who needs taking away from society. I would be interested to find out what her punishment was for the previous 22 convictions.
Definitely drug related. Says so in the link; '......in a bid to steal cannabis...." And the 50 month sentence is for a variety of charges (incl the suspended sentence).
Poor wee soul. She said sorry.
Bring back capital punishment
Canary //With such an appallingly distressing background,//
Where in article does it mention that?
//Wouldn't surprise me if limp-wristed lefties think she's wonderful.//

And it wouldn't surprise me if the jackbooted Right wingers want her shot at dawn.

A troubled young woman. As Theland said, she needs help and punishment. Psychiatric hospital may be the best place for her.
danny,
‘ She said the defendant had turned to drugs to deal with PTSD caused by “emotional trauma” suffered as a child.’
She can still be treated in prison.
Neither evil nor sick, just a thug that needs taking out of circulation for a bit. Four years seems a bit much but she won't serve anything like that long.
She was given a 2 years suspended jail sentence for her involvement in the supply of Class A drugs by a county lines gang less than 12 months ago. It is probable that she was required to undergo psychiatric treatment especially as others in the gang were sentenced to lengthy jail terms.
She was also found guilty of witness intimidation and threats to kill in December 18. She was found guilty of making threats to kill and threats of arson at a hospital in August 2019.

Not everyone with mental health issues receive the care they need. Some refuse all treatment. We don't know what sort of treatment this woman has been offered, we don't know if she refused it. As far as I know she hasn't been committed to psychiatric care.

At least with a prison sentence she knows when she will be released. Had she been committed to a secure psychiatric hospital on grounds of insanity her sentence would be indeterminate.

She has got a long history of offending
it’s neither possible to simply pick ‘evil or sick’, or for a website forum such as this, without any expertly qualified input / experience, to determine the appropriate treatment.
I agree with APG. The justice system, so far as I know, as two places where people with mental health problems can be assessed and get help. One is before/at trial where special evidence can be brought and the other is after verdict and before sentencing....there may be an option on appeal too. Of course we can’t really judge from the information given but nothing there says to me injustice.
