Any Menthol Smokers?

Hi all, putting this in B&S because don't want the usual anti-smoking comments I'd get in CB. A genuine request for commiseration and advice. I've smoked menthol cigarettes my whole smoking life and also have zero mental desire to give up. I don't know what to do from Wednesday when menthol are outlawed (within UK ad EU). I don't like the taste of regular cigarettes. Anyone in the same boat, what are you going to do? Any tips for finding a black market supply :-)

I'd be careful about safe, Pixie. Something in them caused a very bad reaction in me. It was slow to develop which is why it took me a while to realise what it was....and it was nasty.

Fair enough x I stopped it as the stimulant made my anxiety worse, as any stimulant would. But by then,I was able to just stop. So it did the job for me. In any case, it is safer than the American versions which add in all sorts of dodgy stuff...

Well I have to thank you all for coming up trumps, hadn't even considered some kind of ecig as had assumed the menthol ban included them.

Why are they outlawing menthol cigarettes in particular?

They believe, rightly or wrongly, that that is how teenagers start.

I don't believe it's because children start on them. Are they not making enough money on them, I wonder?...

I have never believed the government genuinely want people to stop smoking. If they did, they would help. But instead their message is just "it's bad for you". How many people, honestly, smoke because they believe it is healthy? Too much tax, I think.

Apparently, green filter type cigarettes are recommended as a step away from menthol cigarettes (something to do with the tip and paper used). Personally, I can’t stand the vape things, himself had one and it just sounded like he was gargling spit :(

I couldn't be doing with all those clouds of vape billowing around, that's why I chose Ecigs.

I don't think anyone really believes that what children start on (nor pretty packets either) but that's the reason given. Some great suggestions coming up, thanks :-)

I think they came under pressure to do something to make folk stop so some numpty came up with this.
Mamya's right.....if youngsters start because they think it makes them look "cool" they don't do it with menthol.

I only tried a vape once, I couldn't stop coughing (which I don't normally do).
