I am right handed but my left foot is dominant. When I am digging I use my left foot. Is that typical?

I'm right handed, but when digging I use a spade
Question Author
Why didn't I think of that?
I write with the left and chuck with the right. Long time since I done any digging. I'd say I kick with the left.
Barry you will get more work done using a spade rather than your foot :-)

Seriously the two parts of your brain controls different tasks so its possible that has something to do with it.
Use either foot for digging, I reckon.

I go off balance if I try to use my right foot
My wife was right handed in everything except that she wrote with her left hand.
I think... the majority of people are right-handed and left-footed. I would do the same, with my left foot on the spade... but maybe because I am better balancing on my right one...

So I'm not special? :(
Of course you are :-). When you think about it, we all walk leading opposite arm and leg, that's normal.
I’m the same. I play golf and cricket left handed too.
I am right handed but left footed. A result of breaking my right ankle when I was a child.
Incidentally, I knew a girl in Spain, many years ago,who could write mirror image perfectly! When I asked her how she could do it,she said she didn't know and had always been able to do it!
Brain impairment, mehican.
I'm right handed for writing, tennis etc but left handed for using a knife to cut, slice, butter, so have a cast on my left wrist causes real problems. Picking things up my left hand usually leads and I can use an iron in either hand, which is useful!
Oddly, no-one noticed this until I was about 15!
I'm the other way round Barry. Left handed, but right footed.

In fact, writing is about the only thing I do left handed. Snooker, darts, brushing teeth... Just about everything else os right handed.
You should get another iron, zebo, and stop slacking.
Its the step forward motion of spade use. Its normal to step forward with the opposite foot from the arm swing....so, even though you have got both hands on the spade, if your dominant hand is controlling the upper part of the spade then you will be using your left foot to lead, same as walking or running.
no, I'm right-sided throughout. I'm surprised at so many people saying they're not.
jno when you walk so you swing your arm on the same side as your forward foot?
no, I don't, woofgang, but my default digging foot is my right foot; I sort of expect to get more heft in it, as I expect more strength in my right hand and arm.

I can dig with the left foot if necessary (I can't write with my left hand), but the right foot's the one I use automatically.
