Dishwasher Pump

The drain pump on my dishwasher seems to have gone kaput. The machine is working normally otherwise but nothing happens at the part of the cycle where it should discharge the water out to the drain. There are no noises to be heard at all during the drain pump cycle and the machine can't be heard checking for water inside at the start of a cycle.

The "One Hour Quick Wash" cycle is only meant to discharge the water once, which is at the end of that cycle. Other cycles seem to discharge the water and refill during their cycles.

I just wondered if it would be OK to only use the "One Hour Quick Wash" cycle on the machine until I get a new dishwasher next week? I can empty the water that sits in the sump and the bottom of the machine at the end of the cycle using a siphon type hand pump - I've had to do it before on a different machine. I really don't mind doing this for a day or two until I get a new machine! To my mind, the drain pipe should be clear of water beyond the pump with no nasties inside and I'm pumping out the rest. The machine does have anti-flood features.

Yes, doing any part of the cycle without using any feature of the machine (opening the door before the drying cycle) will not compromise the rest of the full cycle. By all means let it the machine do the bulk of the work and take over what it can't do.
