Although the trial is on the IOW you can still install the app ready here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.nhs.nhsx.colocate&;hl=en
....or whatever I phoners do!
this explains how it works

You can also test if the battery life is affected. Mine wasn't.

I think it also works on Android if you don't havean iphone
I just tried on my iphone and I can't get it yet.
fic fac that link is for android
Woofgang,
It is on the iPhone App store.
You can download it from the link here.

But it doesn’t work yet.
Poor old Tora has had it on his phone for weeks not realising it wasn’t doing anything.
Probably best waiting until it is rolled out nationwide, rather than have an app that only works on the Isle of Wight.
it doesn't seem to be in the app store yet
Woofgang

It is in the App Store.

...so what happened to "you can't possibly have it"?
It is thought that the number reported to have downloaded it on the IOW (circa 60,000) may be slightly skewed due to some people downloading it twice and people from the mainland downloading it.
got it Gromit thanks
This has been a very botched roll out.

Initially the Government were pleased that 60,000 had downloaded the app. That turned to disappointment when they realised that tens of thousands of those downloads were not on the Isle of Wight, and they didn’t have a critical mass of testers to make the trial conclusive or helpful.
