My two week old grandson as been constipated for three days and in pain with it.
The chemist as said she cant give him anything till he's a month old.
Is there anything we could try to ease his discomfort?
Thankyou x

I dont know how i feel about his advice after reading some of the comments here.
His mum started breastfeeding, with formula as she wasnt producing very much.
I think if he's no better tomorrow then ill insist on him seeing the doctor.
Mum and dad have been trying gentle massaging his tummy and moving his little legs.
I've never wanted to see a poo more in my life.
Again thankyou x

Continue with a warm bath and gentle tummy massage in a clockwise direction and the bicycling movement of his legs.
My breastfed babies could go 55/6 days without opening their bowels but you will need to address the pain aspect if this doesn't work after a day or two more.
(not medically qualified advice from me)

Sqad, i always appreciate your advice, i appreciate everyone's advice x Maybe i should have just waited until the doc rang, he was supposed to ring at 6 that made it feel like a long day, they couldn't get hold of their midwife and were a bit panicked being first time parents.
They did ring 111 who took details but as of now they're still waiting for a call back.
I just wondered if anyone had a baby with the same problem and what they'd tried so we could try while waiting.
Much thanks to all x
