Time they stopped ‘taking the knee’ (ludicrous expression), flying flags and allowing flavour-of-the-month groups to demonstrate but not others. How about remaining neutral, officers, and just getting on with the job?

The second the Police take a political standpoint is the point at which the notion of “policing with consent” is critically and fundamentall y undermined. The principal of consensual policing is that the police are the people and people are the police. It is predicated on the idea that the police represent everyone without showing favour to any one...

I recall banter in the police canteen in the early 70s at Paddington Green nick. It was the usual childish political point scoring as found on here. Quentin Hogg was the representative,at the time, for Paddington.
Certain gibes were thrown across the canteen floor with regards to 'squinting Pig' and supporters of his political adversary.
A sergeant,in the canteen 'having his grub' quickly reminded us that we were impartial regardless of race, colour or creed and were to ensure the law was obeyed without fear or favour.
In this day I am sure that skipper would include, 'taking the knee' in his admonishment and certainly flying flags for minority groups.
When I recall Police Commissioner Ian Blair lending Tony Blair two police range rovers for his campaign with Labour banners on them I knew the police was lost as an impartial service to the people they are supposed to serve.Unfortunately the police are corrupt from the top.Shocking leadership.

//'We're marking Gypsy Roma Traveller History//....
"With a big up for the fly tipping, random tarmacking, house burglaries, garden shed raids, doorstep scams and opportunist behaviour. Not to forget in any way of course the "humorous" intimidation of local people, the ill treatment of animals, the misogynistic approach to society, or the "mischievous" demeanour of the travelling children. If we have missed anything out of this tribute that should be there ....we prostrate ourselves before the ever present Mercedes badge and under employed chemical toilet of inclusivity." .....Said a Kent Police "spokesman".
