Good focused vision without modern appliances (glasses, contacts etc.) was at one time a necessity for survival (hunting, defense from predators, etc.) and was sustained by natural selection (survival of the fittest). Now with the aids of technology, medicine and social welfare poor vision is actually being bred into the human race.
Stress is another factor that may contribute to problems with vision. I stumbled along for a long time with mild vision problems and although I know some people have been helped with noninvasive therapies and eye exercises I finally resorted to corrective lenses. If you have the time and the wherewithal I would encourage you in your search for a natural cure for your vision problems but beware of those who might prefer your money to actually helping you solve your problem.
Wish I could help, be safe and good luck!
I'd have to spend a long time exercising before being able to throw my contact lenses away.
If your problems are mild and you want your vision sharpening up eye exercises would be worth a try. Once you start relying on artifiical help it is unlikely that you will see any improvements - but you'd need an answer from an optician to confirm that impression.
Laser surgery is a bit drastic for a mild problem for which you could go without glasses. If you are like me, not able to see further than your own feet and having worn lenses for over 20 years, then the risk seems more worthwhile.
I wonder if some of the problems of poor eyesight is the modern world - for example sitting glued to computer screens all day. Many eyesight problems wouldn't be noticeable if we spent the day hunting or cooking in caves. Perhaps my eyesight would never have been as bad without television, working on computers all day in artificial lighting etc.
I like the natural selection theory though. Sorry to say I've already bred my inadequate genes.
I was given a book of Bates eye exercises. I found it useless as the book was very adamant that people should try to go without glasses as much as possible. It suggested people should do without glasses whilst at home. I'm very short-sighted and would probably injure myself if I tried this! My whole family have bad eyesight so I think we have dodgy genes.
I like the idea of the exercises, but I can't find anyone who actually managed to reduce their prescription/throw their glasses away. People tell me they'd heard of someone who had done this, but I want to talk to someone in the flesh!
