Best treatment for painful stiff lower back please, arthritis. Trying TENS machine, massage machine, microwaveable heat pad. Is there a cure? Heat pads or cold??

Have you been diagnosed and if so, advised to move or rest?
Heat is for stiffness, cold is for swelling or inflammation.

Much of it depends on your age and condition. If you are able and active and told to move then a gentle calisthenic work out may help.

Haven’t seen GP for my back but been diagnosed in hips around six years ago. I believe it’s wear and tear, been painful for a week now, never had it this long before, usually just the odd day. Just wondered what was the best treatment until it becomes easier to see my GP. Thanks Trevor.
what kind of arthritis and who diagnosed it? Do you use pain relief meds? Have you tried an analgesic rub in gel or ointment? The heat/cold thing is not actually true. For pain relief you choose what works for you. There isn't a cure for arthritis sadly.
Smurfy does you GP not do phone or text/email consultations?
If you can take it ibuprofen . Nothing will help 'wear and tear' if that's what it is .
