Yes I am. As I mentioned on your other post my iron level was a bit too low last time.
I’m made to feel like a bit of a pariah sometimes. Eg I said I’d taken an ibuprofen a few days before. Another time I blew my nose just before I got into the chair. I was sent packing and virtually accused of trying to kill vulnerable people.
I’ll still go. Have done since I was 18. My dad’s life was saved by donated blood so I know how important it is.
Like Prudie, I went once and it didn’t go well so was advised not to bother again. I have a relatively rare group so I was disappointed that I couldn’t take part any more.
I was. It was almost compulsory as I worked in a blood bank.
On what turned out to be my last donation, it was really quite painful.
I ended up with phlebitis which tracked right up my arm. No more.
I was till I hit menopause and started to collapse like brick after every donation. My health was fine and it didn't worry me but I was asked to retire as it was worrying the other donors.
I only made 27 donations as i spent much of my time out of the Uk...oh and plus two donations I made for plasma because I had a rubella vac and couldn't donate for people use. I used to work on a site where there was a bloodbank and donation centre (Southmead Hospital in Bristol) so we just used to pop across from the main building. When the refused my blood for doantion they said og but while you are here can we have some for plasma? but the meanies wouldn't give me donation stickers for them
