Anyone else worry bout long term effects on kids going thru this worldwide covid crisis ?

How kids playtime / classroom time / physical interaction with each other etc has been changed? How much of the anxiety kids are absorbing via their parents? Or from the news being on the telly in the backgrounds?

Kids are little sponges absorbing everything and I wonder if and how it may impact on their future

TBH I’m more worried about the young adults that can’t find work and feel that their whole future has been pulled out from under them.
My concern, growing daily, is the throwaway nature of the use of 'mental health' in so many conversations and statements in so many places.
Almost as if it's a requirement.

This is not directed at eve1974.

no it is very likely there will be no measurable harm in this cohort

even Northern Ireland and the troubles ( you know bang bang boom boom seems not to have an effect)
Young children are very resilient and accepting - I have no worries about the U.8s. My granddaughter asked if this was as bad as the Black Death (just done it in History), she was reassured and seems happy with that.

I am far more worried ab out the 12+ age group.
lol did she think you'd been around in the black death jourdain?
Probably! As I said.... they are very accepting. :)
I do too.... everyone under about 20 especially. Playing, chasing, normal games are usually close contact with young children. As well as older ones trying to get jobs and work experience etc.
Doug, I don't think it is a throwaway statement. It affects everybody just as physical health does.
I agree with douglas.

I use about half a dozen online forums and have become weary of contributors whining, 'It's affecting my mental health...', when what they are describing is a completely appropriate emotion or reaction to their stated situation.

We all have mental health. It's just what tips the individual over the edge.

I know of a few friends/ colleagues who’s kids of school age are suffering frome huge anxiety since the virus set in.

So sad!

As others also said older teens/young adults who are out of work & no social life also a worry!

Every age really isnt it! Terrible times.

Poor wee kids... must be hard to keep them informed without scaring them
Xx
Well I'm afraid the young are not as important as making sure that the elderly's lives are extended for a few more years.
Dave @ 08.24. I must disagree with you all age groups are equally important.
In most cases, having mental health issues means feeling a bit fed up today.
dave - you clearly do not understand mental health.
Maybe not, ummmm, but he knows whiny kids.
As do most parents :-)
