For some time, almost two years, I have been unable to hear properly in my right ear.
I went for private wax removal but there was so little in there that he only charged me a nominal fee.
Finally, about three weeks ago, I went to an NHS Audiologist. I heard almost everything!!
Pressure test was ok in both ears. She has referred me to the ENT dept. My appointment has come through for March 2021.
I have to have subtitles on tv, cannot always hear when I am spoken to, and have a constant feeling that my ear is full of ‘custard’. Some tinnitus, both high pitched noises and a pulse feeling.
Do you have any comments, given that I am normal from the Audiologist’s point of view.

My first comment is, if you feel that your hearing is impaired in one ear,then it is...whatever the Audiologist has to report.
The high pitched noices are significant particularly if they are in the impaired ear.
March 2021 is a long time to wait and if you can afford to go privately it may well be the best £150 that you will ever spend.
How old are you and what medications are you taking?
Have you ever been exposed to noise or worked in a noisy occupation?
Do you have any dizzy spells or unsteadiness?

I’m 63. On Omeprazole 20mg sid and Citalopram 40mg sid.
No particular noise exposure....unless you count a T Rex concert in the front row at 17!
I have frequent dizziness and unsteadiness, I call it my ‘stumblies’

I assume the Audiologist tested over a range of frequencies, and maybe it is just a small range you are not hearing.
Also, dizziness could indicate a hear problem other than deafness such as sinus or a bone fragment of some kind.

How come the NHS audiologist answered the phone? I ask because OH has had major problems with his NHS hearing aids and is now almost totally deaf and the local audiology dept. is unreachable. You have to leave a message on an answerphone after listening to a statement that no one is allowed in . After several such calls they sent a cleaning kit. :(
